I got together with friends to play with enamels. Made the round copper enameled piece, used a stencil to make the design and some gold leaf. Put it together with a long rock I drilled holes into.
My First Cloisonne Piece
Well, kinda. It’s not done. I just got the cloisonne piece done. Still have to make it into a piece of jewelry. I stayed with easy for my first piece and even then some of my wires moved.
This is 1.5 inches. I put silver under the transparent curves and cells but it doesn’t show up that well. I didn’t do any shading, just plain enamels. I wanted to learn the process. Now I can get more intricate and take my time making a piece. I’m still going to turn this into a piece of jewelry just because it’s my first piece.
Enameled Piece Pendant
I wanted to try to set an enameled piece in a bezel setting so this piece was all an experiment.
Not crazy about this piece but I did achieve what I was trying to do and that was set the enameled circle in a bezel. That part went smoothly, no cracking the of any enamel. I added a few embellishments, like the brass rivets on the side and the little cab at the top. I was planning on using fibers for the dangle, hence the reason for the larger hole but I didn’t like the way it looked. The bead dangle is a tad better.
Enameled Bangle Bracelet Sets
I don’t know why I decided to make these when it’s the hottest time of the year. It takes a while to torch fire a whole bangle in the garage with no air conditioning. Especially when I have to redo one because I don’t like the way the enameling turned out. Sometimes I don’t get the enamel melted in smooth and I don’t noticed until after it’s cooled off and I pick it up and find a rough spot.
I usually use pearls where the little rock is but I ran out of rice shaped pearls so I used little drilled rocks instead for the wire bracelets. I sell these as a set because I think it’s cool to wear both together.
Solderless Bezel Pendant
Our little group had a play day today and I made this solderless bezel pendant. It’s solderless because the bezel is formed by punching a circle in copper, then dapped into a bezel shape. I planned on using a glass cab but I made the bezel too large so I enameled a domed copper circle and use that instead.
Not my best work but this was all an experiment.
Enameled Bangle Bracelet Sets
I sold all the enameled bangle bracelet sets I made at the craft show. Yeah!! But that meant I had to make more for gifts. These are two I finished yesterday.
I really like making these. It’s a surprise how the colors are going to come out. I use a couple of opaque colors and three or four transparent colors and I never know what I get when I layer them. When I have more time, I want to make some wider ones that will be riveted together.
