Someone asked me if I knew how to make a Peeps chick. I never made one before so this was my first attempt. It is just a blob of glass that I put more blobs on for the head and tail. Easy!!
Lone Bunny
I’m trying to come up with ideas for beads to use for the Beads Of Courage charity. I have to be able to make them fairly quickly and they can’t have thin pieces of glass on them. I think this bunny qualifies.
Another Weekend of Kitties
More kitties!! I guess I should come up with a different style. Not that I don’t like making these but maybe I should try some different shapes. These work out well for the keychains though and I still need to make more of them so this is not the last of them.
I took this picture to show the whole key chain so the kitties don’t show their best side.
A couple more. The right one look like it a carnival kitty. It’s so colorful.
I also tried playing with silver glass again. I should just give it up. I just don’t have the knack for it.
The picture is pretty crappy too. The left bead has a clear base with Terranova 2.1 over it. It’s not that colorful in person. The middle bead is a clear base encased thinly with Psyche. It didn’t look that good so I roughly lined on some of the new Bella Donna glass – Moody blue on top. The last bead is a clear base with Terranova and another glass that I can’t remember. It’s really dark and almost looks black.
More Kitties And Another Dot Bead
More kitties in different colors, along with some out of focus beads that I’m going to use with the kitties for key chains.
This is another dot bead. I think this one turned out a little better than the last one. The white dots aren’t as wonky. Still need a lot more practice.
Two More Kitty Keychains
As you can tell from previous posts, I always do things in multiples. So here’s two more kitty key chains.
I’m also still practicing dots. This next picture is an example of a bad dotted bead. I must have melted the dots in too fast or something as they turned out all crooked. Back to the torch for more practice!!
Love the dark aqua though…..
Kitty Keychain
Here’s a pink kitty made up into a key chain. Looks like I’ll be making more of these in the near future. I didn’t know how they would work out since kitties have ears and they get in the way. If I put the ears in the right spot, I can get a tiny bead to fit between the ears.
Wild Lupine Frit
I’ve been having fun playing with frit. Frit is small broken pieces of glass. People blend different colors together to make a pleasing color palette. Hot beads can be rolled or dipped into frit so it sticks to the outside, then it gets melted into the bead. I encase my beads with clear afterward because magnifies the colors.
Dot Practice
I’m trying to learn how to manipulate dots and do multi layer dots where they distort into different shapes. For me, this is not an easy task. My hand-eye coordination is sorely lacking so when it comes to precision, it’s tough for me. I know if I practice, I will get better. Here’s the first beads I made. I tried some simple techniques, like raking the dots towards the center. It looks better when there are more dots on top of dots but I didn’t want to spend an hour doing dots just to mess it up.
The top picture shows one side of the bead and the bottom is the flip side. I did the last one with a different design on each side. Still need a lot more PPP!!!
Then, I made another black and white kitty since I’m sending one to a gal that said it looks like her cat, Bootsie.
Lots ‘o Beads
There’s a cat bead exchange happening on the glass bead makers forum that I thought I might join. I made a few kitties last night. These are some small kitties. All are less than an inch tall.
Then I played with more of The Mandrel’s frit. Still working with the Berry-licious one, I used it on a light turquoise base bead.
Then I tried a bead that I learned in the silver glass class I took last week. Now I know I don’t like making these types of beads. I like the way they look, just don’t like making them. Still, I wanted to see if I could repeat what I learned in class. It’s always good to know how to work different glasses, never know when I might use them.
I might have over reduced it a bit but it still sparkles, more than in the picture.
