Just Spacer Beads

My friend wanted some spacer beads for a project she is working on. I usually don’t worry about sizing my spacers as I usually make a bunch and can find a few the same size. But making them for someone else I wanted to be sure I made them pretty much the same size. I used one of my graphite bead roller in my attempt to size them the same.

The top ones are transparent cobalt, the middle are dark lapis and the bottom one are opal yellow. I need to make a few more opal yellow ones. I ran out of mandrels last night. Sure not fun cleaning all the bead holes either.

Almost All Glass Bead Necklace

I’m naming this necklace – Prima Donna, for Donna Conklin that taught me how to make these beads. Or at least most of them. She made a necklace similar to this one and I just loved it so I finally got a chance to make my own.

The only bead that isn’t glass is the pewter Green Girl bead on the left. The rest are all glass.

Laurel Burch Etched Pendant

I bought some Laurel Burch rubber stamps eons ago and loaned them to my friend to use so she could use them to etch copper. She gave me some of the etchings. I made this simple pendant with one of them today.

I didn’t have a lot of excess copper so I couldn’t get a better shape. The copper is riveted onto a back of sterling silver and the bail is soldered on. I also added a little cab for interest.

Just Beads

More beads that I don’t know what I’m going to do with yet. I’m thinking of a necklace and that will take about 4 times as many beads as I have here.

These are kind of cool, just clear frit on a base color. The darker colors work better. If I had larger frit there would be more lines on the beads and more contrast.

Opal yellow and enamels on these and one red bead in the middle.

I need to make some beads for cell phone charms and zipper pulls. This heart I’m going to use for a charm or a pull. Probably make a few more of these.

Fish Charms and Some Beads

Got these fish charms done this week. I didn’t put hooks on these as they get in the way if these are used as a dangle thingy.

And a set of beads. Might use them for a bracelet.

Need to make a few more large beads to make a complete bracelet.

Red Cord Flower Necklace

I like the way this one turned out. But then I like red and pink. And on a black dress or top, I think it would look great.

I did this one a little differently. Not that anyone can tell. I made the flowers with a hole all the way through, instead of making them on a copper wire. I sewed them directly onto the cord. I thought it would be easier to place the flowers but it’s still a little difficult to get them where I want them.

Another Bead Pen

I had one more bead pen blank so I thought I’d make the beads for it. Here it is all done up.

I thought the colors would be more red than orange. Oh well……

Bead Pen

It seems like I’m always looking for writing implements at work. The abundance of pens and pencils have dwindled down to just a few sitting around the office. While I try not to write anything by hand, it’s sometimes necessary. So, I finally made a pen of my own to use.

Lariat Style Cord Necklace

I won’t really have much to say about this piece. I made the glass components and sewed them onto the cording. I found this one a bit harder to do than the one I made earlier with the thicker cording. This cording is thinner and longer so I was able to make it into a lariat type necklace. Here’s two different views of the same necklace:

I haven’t decided whether to dye the cording. I like the different colors I get when I dye them but the dye tends to make the cording a lot darker. Not sure if all the glass components will show up very well on a darker cording. Still thinking about it….
