Purple Beads

I’m now working on bead sets for bracelets. This is a purple one. I used some silver glass in some of the beads which I’m surprised that I actually like them. Normally I don’t get any good colors out of silver glass. Now I just have to come up with some ideas for bracelet designs.

Washi Paper Magnets

More things to sell at the fall craft shows. These are really easy to make, though it takes me longer because I make such a mess when I have to use glue. I also had issues with the magnets. They are so strong that if I put them too close together, they would stick together. I can’t just lay them out on the table so I found these steel plates that worked out great.

Push Pins

Still making push pins, though I’ve taken a break on them for a while. Hope this will be enough to sell for right now.

Also been working on stringer practice. Thought it was time I stepped it up a bit. Here’s a few practice beads.

I know a lot of them look dotty but there are two in there that have lines. It’s hard making lines with hair thin pieces of glass. Some people can do it like they are drawing. I have a long way to go.

Melissa Manley Class

I took Melissa’s Porthole Charm class on Saturday. It was really fun. I’ll be making more in the future. Here’s my finished necklace:

It’s mostly copper and I used washi paper for the pictures in the charms. It didn’t work out that well. I need to seal the paper before putting the other side on. Lesson learned. I used some of my own glass beads and some I bought eons ago. The metal knots are coils of wire that are interlocked together. They are called Danish knots.

Back To Making Push Pins

I’m glad the push pins are selling well, though I am getting tired of making them. I still have to make some to sell at the fall craft shows so I’m trying to get enough done now. Here’s some that I made this weekend.

A couple new designs are the grapes and the hibiscus flowers. I guess I’m going to have to break down and make more turtles. People seem to like turtles, I just don’t like making them.

Bottle Caps and Necklaces

I finally finished the order for 10 necklaces. Here’s the bottle caps I made for them. These are a little bigger than my previous ones.

I’m just putting them onto ball chain along with some glass disk beads. I didn’t take pictures of all the necklaces since they are almost the same. Here’s a few of them.

Glass Magnets

I finally figured out how to make bigger faces for magnets. My method isn’t the best way to make them but for the few I have to make, it’s good enough.

I know the last bunny is missing it’s pink in it’s ears. I totally forgot to put it on. Oops!!

I also did these miscellaneous beads.

The black bead is pretty big compared to most beads I make. I really was going to make another bead but I accidentally put too much glass on the mandrel and didn’t want to trash it.

Possible Magnets???

These are the first two cabochons I made out of glass for possible refrigerator magnets. I made them on a cab mandrel so the profile of them is kind of flat and quite a bit larger than the push pins. I’m going to have to come up with some new designs for these.

Seed Beaders Are Crazy

They have to be. I don’t do much with seed beads. It’s too time consuming and takes a lot of concentration. I can only work on a project if I have a HUGE chunk of time and no distractions.  I totally underestimated the time it would take to make this necklace. I thought it would take three days. It look me a whole week. This is a Laura McCabe kit. I always buy kits. It’s easier than trying to find all the right beads in the right colors. Laura’s patterns are awesome. Very detailed and clear. Here’s my finished piece:

New Key With Bead

I bought a new lot of keys and they were really rusty and dirty. I ended up throwing them all into my tumbler and they came out all clean and shiny. I had to test one in the flame to see if it’s actually steel. I made a simple bead and the key held up so it’s definitely steel.
