Satin Cord Necklace With Dangles

I went to my glass club meeting and a gal was wearing a necklace made out of satin cord with dangles on the bottom. I really liked the colorful look of the necklace and knew I had to make a similar one. Here’s my take on the necklace.

RattailCordDangleNecklaceIt’s long and can be knotted or tied depending on the length I want it. This is going to look great with my black dress that I’m still waiting for the pattern to be mailed out.

Well, Yeah, More Cab Charms

Another set of cab charms. I used some cabs that had different designs on them this time. I’m trying to get a good selection of them made so I have a variety of them.

CabCharms

It’s hard getting a good picture of these. They look much better in person. These are tiny, less than 1/2 inch across. I think they make good dangles and several can be worn on a chain or used as a component in another piece.

Finished Necklace

My plans were to make a multi-strand necklace to go with the focal piece I last posted. It ended up looking way too heavy so I opted to use just ceramic beads and some Mykonos copper beads.

FinishedNecklace

The necklace part is detachable and it clasps onto the focal piece so it doesn’t need a clasp in the back. The focal piece can be changed out to another piece if I happen to make another and want to use the same necklace.

Partially Done

This is part one of this necklace. I got the silver work done for the focal piece. I still have to make the necklace part. The necklace will be out of ceramic beads.

Front

The big bead in the middle was made by Julie of Outwest Beads. I only wish I could make a bead like hers. Since I can’t I had to buy it. The little green – yes, it’s green, is out of glass too. I tried every other color possible but nothing worked as well as the green one. Oh well, sometimes I just have to cave and use my least desirable color…..

Pink/Green Square Chip Necklace

This took me a while to finish as there are a lot of beads in this necklace. It’s going to be a raffle prize. Hope it earns a lot of money for the charity.

SquareChipNecklace-PinkThis has a real spring feel to it. Hope people like pink.

More Bracelets and Some Beads

I got three more bracelets done.

GreenRoofTileRedBracelet

This one is kind of a strange color combination. The yellow poopy color is red roof tile and it does get darker when it’s heated and cooled but I didn’t realize that until after I took the beads out of the kiln. I still made it into a bracelet because there might be someone that likes these colors.

Purple-Z99Bracelets

Two purple bracelets. Who doesn’t like purple?

These are some experimental beads I made last night. I should have cleaned my beads better before taking a picture but I just got the holes cleaned and they were still wet.

FlatTransparent-ClearDiscs

Kind of pretty laying on their side, though I’m not sure how or what to do with them yet.

Another Blue Cab Charm Thingy

I’m still working on getting the steps down on making these. They may seem simple but setting a stone or glass cab is difficult when there is no bottom. The piece won’t stand up on the loop so I had to use some stuff call Jett Sett to make a holder so I could set the cab. Jett Sett is a plastic that can be warmed up and molded. It worked out great. Then there’s the bezel part. I want the bezel to be higher than the cab, meaning I have to make a “step” in the inside of the bezel for the cab to sit on. This part isn’t hard, just have to make it smaller than the outside bezel. Since it’s not a faceted stone, it doesn’t have to be a perfect fit. Just as long as the cab has something to sit on.

BlueDotCab

This one is tiny, less than 1/2 inch across.

I Forgot To Post This

This was something that I’ve wanted to try for a while and finally got around to it. It’s hard to set a small cab with a loop on the bottom. And one with a little flower on it made it even harder as I had to make sure the bezel didn’t get in the way. Here’s a crappy picture of the “test” I made.

BlueCab

I’d of liked the cab to sit inside the bezel a bit more but because of the flower that wasn’t possible. I’m going to try another one without a flower and see if I can get the results I want.

Two Bracelets

I made the beads and assembled these bracelets this past weekend.

Pink-GreenBracelet-2 TurquoiseSlateBracelet

I’ve got to come up with different color combinations. I’ve used the pink/green scheme before. The turquoise/slate one is a new scheme. I tend not to use turquoise glass since it can be finicky.

Nothing Exciting This Week

I haven’t finished anything this weekend except some beads so here’s my meager offerings.

BHB-BeforeCoringSome big hole beads that I still have to core with sterling silver.

FiveKeys

Beads on skeleton keys. I like making these. I’m going to be making a bunch of these to sell next year.
