One More Viking Knit Brangle

This is the last one. At least for a while. This one is also made out of copper. I still have to darken the copper a bit, then tumble it so it’s nice and shiny.

Pink Vessel

Okay, I copied. Or I tried to copy. I saw someone else’s vessel using what I thought were these colors and it was gorgeous so I thought I give it a try. Mine didn’t turn out the same, not even close.  Back to the color board…..

Copper Viking Knit Brangle

Well, here’s another viking knit brangle made out of copper this time. These are fairly quick to make – after I get the beads made. I’m not sure if I’m going to blacken this one. It kind of looks good without darkening the copper.

Another Brass Viking Knit Brangle

Has anyone noticed that I can never make just one thing at a time? Guess I’ve moved on to bracelets. Last month it was hair sticks. Anyhoo, this is another brass viking knit brangle. This one has some beads added on the same wire as the viking knit. It’s a bit chunkier.

Brass Viking Knit Brangle

What’s a brangle? It’s a bangle/bracelet. Bangles are usually one piece. I made this using two pieces. They seem to fit a variety of wrists better than bangles do. I made the viking knit part out of brass, along with using brass wire and beads. I used some of the beads that I made in a previous post.

Vessels

I made these a while ago but never posted pictures of them. I was thinking about making more sometime in the near future.

They are a tad bit time consuming but fun to make.

Enameled Beads and Another Kokeshi Doll

I’m starting to work on a few bracelets that I’m going to use brass in. I made some ivory/off white beads a while ago and needed some other beads with a little color in them. I decided to try some enamel powders. Little did I know that I would get an interesting reaction from the different colored enamels I used. It made the beads look more mottled. Me likes.
A few don’t have any enamel on there. I needed a few plain ones with silver dots too.

These are the ivory/off white beads I made a while ago. Not sure if I ever posted a picture.

I was going for something that looked vintage, like old buttons. I’m going to mix these with the enamel beads for the bracelets.

And one kokeshi doll bead. Still trying to figure out how to do these better and quicker.

Kokeshi Doll Beads 2010

This is the first kokeshi doll bead that I’ve made all year. I actually made another one but I made it on a bent mandrel and couldn’t get it off. I don’t normally make long beads so being a little bent isn’t usually a problem. I’ll have to remember to check my mandrel before making another one. They have to be straight for long beads.

Round Beads

This week I really don’t have anything to show, I haven’t really completed anything this week. So, these are some practice beads I’ve been working on. It’s not that easy to make round beads. Glass wants to go into a donut shape and not stay round. I got a new tool from Heather Trimlett so I thought I’ve give round beads a try. This tool is amazing. I can actually make round beads!! I’m also practicing thin stringer work which seems to be easier for me than regular stringer work. Obviously, I haven’t made enough smaller dotty round beads yet, hopefully, I will this next weekend. Not sure how I’m going to use them yet, if I ever do.
