Not So Much

I didn’t have a good torching day yesterday. I had problems with my oxygen concentrator. It’s breaking. I started off making a cactus and I picked up the wrong color and didn’t realize it until it was almost finished. I dunked it in water and started over. All went well and it’s ready to go in the kiln. I open the door, my kiln is cold. I forgot to turn it on. Dud. So, I start for the third time and finally got one made. Also, made a little space guy.

Continuing in the bread bead saga, I decided to try another bread slice.

I used light ivory on the inside and opal yellow for the crust, then fumed the edges with silver. The only problem is it’s too big. It will over shadow the other beads that need to go with it. Back to the drawing board…..

Let Them Eat Bread

I was asked to make a necklace for a baker that makes mostly bread type items. I’ve never made a bread bead in my life and never thought I would. Here’s my first attempts:

If it’s unclear, from the left is a slice of bread, a croissant, a roll and another roll with seeds on the top. Glass doesn’t take texture or color like real bread so it’s difficult to get them to look real. I guess I have to go more for a representation of the items, rather than real looking.

Another Style Of Eye Glass Holders

This style is the same as the badge holders I make except it is shorter and with a smaller ring at the bottom.

Eye Glass Holder Lanyard

Someone at the last craft show asked if I made eye glass holder. I hadn’t thought about it before. So, since I’m staying in and not making beads this weekend, I’ve been digging around my bead stash to put together things. Here’s my first eye glass holder.

Key Finders

I caught a bad cold this weekend so I haven’t been able to do a lot. I wanted to torch but didn’t feel up to it. I’ve been working on getting some key finders made and finally finished the last of what I have.

Angel Charm Bracelet

I made this for a custom order. I think it turned out pretty good. I wanted to put more dangles on it but it was too much with so many angels. The metal used in it is brass.

More Bead Sticks

I made a bunch of copper bead sticks a while ago along with the beads and am just getting around to assembling them. Here’s a few more.

The one on the left is made with 8 gauge copper wire and the right one is made with 6 gauge copper wire.

A Plainer Kokeshi Doll Pendant

I bought these glue in bails and end caps and decided to give them a try. While I like the pearls and dangles on other ones, this one is really simple. It’s a lot easier to put together too.

Bead Stick Pendant

This is one of the same cored and capped beads that I showed in a previous post. I made it up into a bead stick pendant.

It’s mostly copper with copper ball chain and sterling silver bead caps. I might have to make a few more of these.

Stamping Bead Caps

The designs on the sterling silver bead caps are made with metal stamps. It’s hard to tell the design because I stamped over some of the designs I previously stamped. I used liver of sulfur to darken it a bit so the design shows up better. The back bead has hammer textured copper bead caps.
