More Key Chains

Still making stuff for my last craft show. The goth girl beads seem to be a big hit so I made three more key chain.

The nice thing about making the key chains or key finders is I get to use my leftover beads from previous projects. They start building up and don’t really go with anything. It’s kind of fun looking through my stash to find beads I’ve made a long time ago that will work.

First Ornament

There is a thread on Lampwork Etc. about making ornaments that I’ve been following. Most people use borosilicate glass for ornaments since it is less fragile. I don’t have the right torch for making anything bigger than a bead in boro glass so I tried it with the soft glass that I usually use. Since this was my first one and I didn’t think it would turn out very good, I used a cheap color that I knew could take the heat. Unfortunately, it didn’t blow out to a lighter color. I also put way too much frit on the outside. Also the wrong color frit. The only thing that shows up is the texture the frit got when I blew it out.

Since I didn’t have any ornament caps, I used a cork and glued a piece of wire in for the loop. I plan to make more, the only problem is my kiln is too small so I can only make a few in one torching session.

Two Ladder Bracelets

I’ve been making bracelets like crazy this week. I made two more double ladder bracelets with glass buttons.

One has jasper round beads and the other uses yellow moss jasper beads.

Bracelets!!

I got a chance to make more bracelets. I was using frit on the big hole beads are really liked it so I decided to use some on these smaller beads.

I really like the color line on this one. The pastel greens really work with the pink. Might have to do more of these. Course, I might be the only one that likes pink so much.

I either don’t make that many blue things or I sell them all. I seem to always end up with hardly any blue things after a show. I really like the Wedgewood blue color in this bracelet

This one didn’t work out as planned. I made the frit beads and thought I was going to get some nice green and pink colors. Boy, was I surprised when I opened the kiln. Actually these were supposed to go into the first bracelet. I had to make more frit bead for that bracelet. Then I had these. I decided to combined them with some other green and opal yellow beads. There’s also one silver glass spacer in the mix too.

Silvered Ivory and Black Ribbed Bead Necklace

I’ve been working on this set of beads like forever it seems. I thought I had enough made but didn’t, made more, still didn’t have enough and finally, I got around to make more so I could finish this necklace.

It’s longer than the ones I usually make for myself. It’s 23″ long and has sterling silver clasps and findings.

Replenishing Keychains and Key Finders

Just been trying to get more things made that I sold a lot of at the last craft show. There are more cell phone/zipper pull charms or key chains and key finders.

These goth girls are new beads. I kind of like making them. Their hair can go any which way.

More rice ball charms. They always sell out.

Big Hole Beads

I made some big hole beads for bracelets like Pandora, Troll or Chamilia to sell at the last craft show. I did well considering I only had a few of them. I decided to make more. These just got cored with sterling silver tubing.

I kind of like making them as nothing really has to match. It is a challenge to keep the beads small with such a big hole though. Coring isn’t that fun but it makes the bead look so much nicer.

One More Colored Pencil Pendant

This is the last one I plan to make for a while. I need to move on to other things.

Yeah, I’m not that great at drawing. My drawings are very cartoony. I wish I could do something more life like. I used another ceramic shard found on the shores of Lake Erie. I didn’t want to use green but I guess there aren’t too many turquoise colored plates in Lake Erie.

Square Chips Necklace

It seems like I’ve been working on this necklace forever. I was making the square chips and ran out of glass. It’s hard to tell from the crappy picture that I’m using filagrana rods of glass. It’s colored glass encased in clear. I used four different shades of blue in this necklace. The little beads between the chips are clear.

It’s more striking in person and quite chunky.

Two Bracelets

I sold some bracelets at the last craft show so I made a few more.

I don’t know what’s up with the beads I used in the one on the left. I must have had a lapse in color sensibility when I made it. The one one the right is only slightly better, at least they are all on the purple side.
