More Buttons

Still working on buttons for my cousin’s quilt show. I was able to make some sets and do a few experimental ones that I probably won’t be making more of.

Okay, they aren’t all the same size. I do these without any measuring device so I have to eyeball everything.

I made some with the same colored frit before but on these I put a layer of white on the back. Makes the colors really pop.

Another set of frit buttons.

These are the experimental ones. I like the murrini ones but they are too hard to make. The other pod looking one is just hideous.

Copper Box Bead Necklace With Glass Beads

I finally got this necklace done. It was another learning experience. Some things didn’t turn out the best but I’ll know next time.

It’s all copper except for the beads and the chain. I couldn’t find any all copper snake chain. This was the closest I could find. Fortunately it holds up well for soldering. It’s a long necklace, well, long for me but it wouldn’t have the drapey look if I made it shorter.

More Buttons And Pin Cushions

Here’s another set of buttons.

Trying to come up with some new designs for the buttons. The ladybug button was a totally disaster. Poor thing got squished. No one wants to see a smashed ladybug. It’s not pretty.

Three more pin cushions. The button on the left one if a new one too. I didn’t want to make a bunch and find out they look terrible. It has a big ball of glass on the top. I’ll be making more of these in different colors.

Buttons, Pins Cushions and Beads….

I’ve been bouncing around finishing up a lot of things this weekend. I’m still working on more beads and buttons for my cousin’s quilt show. Here are a few more.

Shank style buttons with a cherry design on them. They kind of look old-fashion to me.

Kitties!! That one on the end has a flat head. He kind of looks like Iggy with the fat cheeks.

My mom’s quilting teacher gave her a little pin cushion. It’s really cute. She got the pattern and is going to make me some to sell at the craft show. Here’s the first few.

Aren’t they cute? I’m going to make the buttons that go on them and try to match them to the fabric.

Miscellaneous Buttons

Still making things for my cousin’s quilt show. These are a few more buttons I made.

I’m going to try to make a couple more heart buttons and more cherries too.

Copper and Silver Bangles

I had these left over copper bangles from my unsuccessful attempts at enameling them. I decided to wrap fine silver wire around them and melt the silver in partially. I was going for a rustic look and the do look rustic.

The one on the bottom is wrapped with a thin gauge of copper wire before wrapping it with fine silver wire. I thought the copper wire would give it more texture without the added cost. The top one is just wrapped with fine silver. These are really easy and quick to make.

Box Bead Bracelet

This is my attempt at making a bracelet using the box beads. This isn’t perfect, I learned a lot of things not to do on this project. Still it’s good enough for me to wear. Hopefully my next one will be better.

This mostly copper except the silver bezel cups for the cabs.

More Things For My Cousin’s Quilt Show

I’ve been steadily making things for my cousin’s quilt show. Since I have no idea what they want I’m trying to make a variety of different things. First up is buttons.

I’m planning on making a few more of these since only a couple match. These are fairly small.

I started out making the two buttons on the right. I realized the frit would look better on the bottom of the buttons, that’s when I notice I got a round blob when I melted off the glass rod. They kind of look like a kaleidoscope.

Just a couple of purple and white dot buttons. I’ll probably make more of these in different colors.

Now, a few beads…

More birds. I like making these. They are really fun.

Bunnies!! Two white ones and two pinkish blush ones. I was getting tired of making all white ones.

A set of round beads that have glass shards applied to an opal yellow bead.

Sara Sally LaGrand’s Class

I finally took Sara Sally’s class. It was a blast!! She’s so much fun and a great teacher. Everyone had fun in her class and we all finished at least one piece, if not two or three. Here’s the brooch I made in her class.

Two different views. I wasn’t going to make mine this big but it’s hard not to keep adding components. This was a totally awesome class!!

Box Bead with Cab Necklace

I added a glass cabochon to the top of this box bead. I want to make more of these, but maybe string more than one on a chain. This one looked kind of lonely so I added the copper heishi beads and it still looked plain. That’s when I added the ribbon and now it’s too cutesy. Not sure what I’m going to do with these yet. Back to brainstorming….
