Beads Of Courage Beads

I’m spending all weekend making beads for the Beads Of Courage charity. These are the ones I made last night.

Bear-Bone

The polar bear was in a tutorial and I didn’t want to print out the instructions so I tried making it by memory. It needs more detail and I forgot the tail. I’m going to try another one tonight.

Fish-Bunny

The round fish are new editions. I really wanted to make them flat using my lentil press but I haven’t used a glass press in eons and didn’t want to spend the time mucking with it. Hence, round fish.

Misc

The cat and cake beads are from the same tutorial. I had the hardest time remember what a piece of cake looks like and kept putting the “frosting” on the wrong sides. It’s not like I haven’t ate enough cake to remember. Finally got it figure out. Whew….

Key Finders

I added some beads to these key finders. I thought these were the last four I had but I noticed I have about 20 more sitting in a drawer so I’ll probably make a few more.

Cell Phone Charms and Zipper Pulls

I always make a bunch of these to sell. I usually make the beads during the year so I’m not manically trying to make a bunch at the last minute. I’m finally getting around to making them up into cell phone charms and zipper pulls. Here’s the results.

Misc

Starting out with the miscellaneous ones first. I think I need to make more cupcakes. Not sure how popular they still are but a few more wouldn’t hurt.

MochiTrees2

Mochi trees. I don’t know what they are called in Japanese.

GingkoLeaves

I had these leftover from another project and thought they worked out well for cell phone charms. I really like gingko leaves.

I plan to do more like this one. This was supposed to be more like Tim Burton’s Christmas Jack but it didn’t turn out looking like it. Oh well….FishLureCharmsFishies!! I have one of these hanging from my cell phone bag. It’s been there for over a year and I’m amazed the feathers don’t get messed up. I guess since they are real and come off of real birds they must be somewhat durable.

I’ve got more to make with more than one bead. Hopefully I’ll have those assembled by next weekend.

Glass Head Pins

I was trying to think of a way to make some pretty head pins for the cell phone charms and zipper pulls I make. I found some stainless steel wire, cut it into pieces and melted some glass to make the little balls on the end of the wire.

GlassHeadPins

The wire came out of the kiln a really metallic blue. Pretty neato. But I didn’t want to leave them like that so I polished it off.

These are a few charms that I made with the glass head pins. I need to test them and see how well they hold up.

One Last Skeleton Key Bead Necklace

I’m running out of skeleton keys and haven’t been able to find a good selection of them at a good price for a long time. This is one of my last bigger keys.  I still have several small keys that I can only put one bead on. Those are still cool but I like making several beads on one key.

SkeletonKeyNecklace-AquaThis one I use silk ribbon for the necklace part and of course, a button for the clasp and glass end caps.

Beads Of Courage Beads

There’s some new Beads Of Courage charity program that involves sets of two beads. I’m not exactly sure how this program works but someone requested beads for this program. These are some I had sitting around and some I made last night.

Sets2

They wanted them on safety pins so they can be pinned onto clothing but the safety pins I happen to have are on the small side so even though I can put them onto the pins, there’s no way they can be pinned to clothing. I’m awaiting more info so I can get these packed up and sent off to the recipient.

One More Kokeshi Doll Bead Necklace

I used a black silk ribbon on this one. I made the glass end caps and button clasp to make the length of the necklace adjustable. These buttons work out well and don’t slide around but can be moved easily.

Skeleton Keys with Beads Necklaces

I made these beads on the skeleton keys a while ago and finally got around to making them into necklaces. I think brass compliments the old look of the keys.

All the beads move on the key. I like making more than one bead on a key. Makes it more fun to fidget with!!
