Yep, this is the last one. I’m moving on to other things. This one uses some cute pictures and backgrounds with an “inpire” word on one of the tags. I added a little bead dangle at the bottom.

Today I participated in the Beads Of Courage fundraiser. This is a charity for seriously ill children where beads are given to kids for different treatments they have to endure. It’s a way for the nurses to interact with the kids in a positive way. Most of the beads are bought but there are certain beads that are given out for acts of courage that are handmade by bead makers. Someone took my picture at the event today so here’s a picture of me, torching.
It was way too hot today so we all did our best to make as many beads as we could. We had 6 torches going for about 6 hours. We also had a raffle and other ways to donate. All in all, it was a successful event.
I’ve been wanting a black and white bracelet and these are some of the beads I made for it. Using only two colors has it’s challenges, I have to force myself not to add another color in. The beads rely more on the design than the colors so I have to come up with new designs. It’s a good thing as it forces me to stretch myself.
I want to play with the dot on top of dots more and maybe more dot manipulation. And stringer work – which is drawing with a thin strand of glass.
I got three bracelets made last week. I bought a new belt for my tumbler and it seems to be working better now. I don’t have to tilt it on it’s side to make the barrel turn.
A blue one.
A pink one.
And a green and slate one. Yeah, I know it’s green. Just because I don’t like green doesn’t mean others think the same. Adding the slate made it easier for me.
I’m planning on making a few more bracelets so I made the beads for them.
I’m planning on using them with copper wire and other copper components to make them affordable.
Here’s the last little people figure that I just finished. I think I’m going to keep this one. I like the other two better for the Bead of Courage raffle.
They are a bunch of fun to make but take a while to make all the components. Then I need extra components since I don’t know how things are going to fit together. So I end up with lots of extra components that I can’t really use unless I make another figure. Which I might in the future but this is it for right now.
I finished my second little people figure for the Beads Of Courage raffle.
I think this one turned out kind of cute. I put a little flower on the collar. I’m going to make one more and pick out of them which two are the best and donate two of them. They are kind of fun to make since anything goes. I can use up all my short rods of glass.
My glass bead club is hosting a Beads Of Courage fund raising event in a couple of weeks and I made a little people figure for the raffle. I’m planning on making another one, this is the first one I’m donating. I still have to make the components for the second one.
These are kind of fun to make as anything goes. I want to experiment with adding hair and arms later. I wish I had more time to but I have to have these done by next weekend so I can give them to the raffle chair person before the event. Sure hope some people will donate toward this.
I got more big hole beads cored with sterling silver. With the other ones, I think this will be plenty for my friend. In fact, too many. I’m sure her Pandora bracelet isn’t large enough to put all the beads on there, especially the larger ones. But she will have lots to choose from.
She wanted purple and blues. I didn’t do too well on the colors she wanted, oh well. I’m still trying to figure out how people make these beads more complex. It tough making them small because the big hole already makes them bigger. Still need lots of practice but these should suffice for right now.
I’m trying to make some big hole beads for a friend. She has a Pandora bracelets and wants some glass beads to string on it. I don’t normally make big hole beads to fit Pandora bracelets. There are challenges. Like the size. The hole has to be big enough so it fits on the bracelet and I can’t make a massive bead to use on a bracelet. It’s hard decorating such a small bead. I don’t know how other do it. There are also issues with coring the beads with sterling silver tubing. The bead needs to be symmetrical with a good hole. No ragged edges around the hole, else when I core it, the bead will crack. I did crack a few beads – I hate that. Course, it’s always the ones I like. I did get these done and plan to make a few more before showing them to her.
Left one is a blue base with purple frit on it. The middle two are silver glass. That’s the best I can do with the color. As you all know I’m silver glass challenged. The right one is an opal yellow base with enamels on it. I meandered a opal yellow stringer around the middle to add interest. I plan to make more blue and purple ones soon.
