Badge Holders

I got a few badge holders made for a gal in my mom’s quilting class. She wanted something in neutral colors which is tough for me since I only use them if I have to. I still wanted to give her more than one choice.

This is the first one I made and I thought she would choose this one and I guess right.

What’s weird about this one is I bought brown seed beads but they look purple with a tinge of brown cast to them. They worked out for this badge holder but I was a bit disappointed when I got them. I really like opal yellow glass with purple stringer.

This one has Amber’s Fire Opal beads in it. They have some silver glass in them and I’m not that at all proficient with it. I’m attempting to try to learn.

Sorry for the crappy photos. This is what happens when it’s late and I’m tired and don’t want to take pictures.

Bracelet, Plant Stakes And Beads

I’m all over the place. I’m trying to finish up the ladder bracelets and start on assembling badge holders. I’m making the beads for the badge holders and at the same time decided to make some plant stakes to see how well they will go over at the craft show.

This one is yellow moss agate.

Two aventurine ones. Sorry about the crappy picture.

Two dyed agate obviously to resemble lapis. Or maybe not so obvious….

Amazonite gemstones in this one.

Double wrapped pearl one.

Some miscellaneous buttons that I plan to use for the last of the ladder bracelets.

These are red with Fire Lotus silver glass in them. I’m trying to use some of my silver glass even though I’m silver glass challenged. I got some color out of this one that doesn’t look like brown poop.

Amber posted a tutorial on Lampwork Etc. on how to make the two beads with silver foil in them. She called them Fire Opals which hers looked more like a fire. Mine, not so much but I did get some color and wispy things and they do look cool with the silver foil in them. I think this set will make a nice badge holder.

An opal yellow with raku frit and purple stringer work. I’m still trying to practice my stringer work each time I torch.

My friend made  several plant stakes and I thought they were cute. I decided to make some for the next craft show. I’m not going overboard on them, probably make about 10 to see how much attention they get. I think they would look nice stuck in a potted plant. Give a boring green plant some pizzazz.

Only One Bracelet This Time

I only finished one bracelet for this photo shoot.

These are terra aqua jasper beads. They have a real organic look to them in a green tint. I kind of like them except the green part.

I need to start moving on to another project. I finally found out what color badge holder a gal in my mom’s quilting class wants so I started making beads last night. I’m going to try to make several so I can have some to sell at the craft show.

Opal Yellow with enamel powders and purple stringer.

Yeah, I should have made sure my beads were clean before taking a picture of them. These are in the colors the gal wants. I’ll probably use these for her badge holder.

I was trying to get more organic. It’s tough for me. I don’t do organic well. I saw some of Jewlie’s beads and thought they looked awesome. I tried to do the same thing, not as successfully as her beads are though….

I Can’t Stop Making Bracelets

I have to stop soon. I’m not getting anything else done except bracelets. I need to start designing new things for the next craft show.

A couple more double wraps in rose quartz and unikate.

These use tree jasper gemstones.

On A Bracelet Roll

These bracelets are addicting!! I’m making double wrap ones now. They are so much fun. I really like making the buttons to go with them too. That’s my favorite part.

I should have used a different button on this one. The beads are Fancy Jasper – whatever that is. Lots of different colors but none are the same as the button. Oh well….

This one has Blue Sky Jasper beads and it’s hard to tell that I used some silver glass in the button. Not that I have any expectations when it comes to me making silver glass do anything cool.

At first, I was keen about these bamboo beads but I really like them in this bracelet. The beads kind of look like bakelite, the colors vary slightly in them.

Happy Easter!!

Birds and Kitties

My cousin emailed me last Thursday to ask if I could make more bird and kitty beads for her quilt show. Apparently she sold all the ones I already gave her before the show. I made a bunch of them and I would have had more if I hadn’t dropped a bag of beads on a hard tile floor. With everything so close together, I broke several beads. Still, I think I made enough for her show.

These are the big birds, which aren’t different from the small birds, except they are bigger.

The flock of baby birds.

All the kitties.

What? More Bracelets?

Yep, more bracelets. I’ve been on a roll.

This is my first double wrap bracelet. I used sesame jasper gemstone beads. They really aren’t as pink as in the picture. They look more brown with a pinkish tint. I decided to use pink thread and a pink button to bring out the pink in the beads a bit.

I couple of single wrap ones made out of carnelian beads.

More pearl ones….

More Buttons And Bracelets

I sold my first ladder bracelet yesterday!! I didn’t even get to take a picture of it. I took them to my glass club meeting for show and tell and a gal wanted to buy one. Yeah!!

Here are three more I finished up.

I’m really liking the pearl ones, though I did breakdown and buy some different gemstones to use.

Buttons!! I’m trying to build up my button stock for the bracelets. I like having an assortment to choose from.

Donna that owns the glass shop called The Mandrel made some beads on opal yellow colored glass with purple stringer work on it. Opal yellow is notorious for fine details spreading all over the place. I asked her how she got the lines so crisp. She uses powdered raku on them. I gave it a shot last night. These all have different colors of purple on them and some work better than others. The right one really isn’t purple, it’s lapis with a purple cast to it. While it didn’t spread out, it didn’t react with the raku.

When I can’t do stringer work – sometimes I’m just off during a torch session, I like to make these striped cab buttons. A couple of these have silver glass in them but it’s hard to tell. I can’t seem to do anything with silver glasses.

These are miscellaneous ones to try out some new colors of glass I got.

Two More Leather Ladder Bracelets

As you all know already, I don’t make just one of anything. So, here’s two more leather bracelets. I think these are some low grade charite gemstone beads. One of them I used Fireline to secure the beads in place and the other one I used C-Lon which ended up not being any easier. I could barely pass the thread through the beads and the thread is so wiry, it gets messed up easily.

The C-Lon thread gives a more decorative edge. I made the buttons to go with them.

Leather Ladder Bracelet With Pearls

These bracelets are all the rage this season and I tried my hardest not to jump on the bandwagon. But since I’ve been making buttons, I had to use them for something. Here’s the first bracelet I made using leather and pearls.

These can be made so the bracelet wraps multiple times around the wrist. I’m going to stick with making single ones until I get more made.

I made these buttons to use for the bracelets but I didn’t make the shank hole big enough to fit the leather through. Guess I’ll have to make more tonight.

This is my attempt at working with Raku glass. It’s one of those silver type glasses that change to some nice colors. I was able to get color on the small cab but the more I work the glass it turns to “baby poop” color. I should just stick with what I know works best for me and it’s not silver glass.
