More Cabs

Still trying to get some glass cabs made so I can use them on the copper boxes. Here’s the ones I made this weekend.

The biggest ones are 3/4″ and the smallest one is about…well, I don’t know. They are small.

I’m not happy with this one. It’s 1 1/4″ big. Too big for the stuff I want to use it for and I don’t even like the design.

Then I made the black and white set of beads for my cousin’s quilt show. The other set, I use up all the ends of my glass rods. These beads are small so they work out well for short ends.

Copper Box Bead Necklace With Glass Beads

I finally got this necklace done. It was another learning experience. Some things didn’t turn out the best but I’ll know next time.

It’s all copper except for the beads and the chain. I couldn’t find any all copper snake chain. This was the closest I could find. Fortunately it holds up well for soldering. It’s a long necklace, well, long for me but it wouldn’t have the drapey look if I made it shorter.

Buttons, Pins Cushions and Beads….

I’ve been bouncing around finishing up a lot of things this weekend. I’m still working on more beads and buttons for my cousin’s quilt show. Here are a few more.

Shank style buttons with a cherry design on them. They kind of look old-fashion to me.

Kitties!! That one on the end has a flat head. He kind of looks like Iggy with the fat cheeks.

My mom’s quilting teacher gave her a little pin cushion. It’s really cute. She got the pattern and is going to make me some to sell at the craft show. Here’s the first few.

Aren’t they cute? I’m going to make the buttons that go on them and try to match them to the fabric.

Box Bead Bracelet

This is my attempt at making a bracelet using the box beads. This isn’t perfect, I learned a lot of things not to do on this project. Still it’s good enough for me to wear. Hopefully my next one will be better.

This mostly copper except the silver bezel cups for the cabs.

More Things For My Cousin’s Quilt Show

I’ve been steadily making things for my cousin’s quilt show. Since I have no idea what they want I’m trying to make a variety of different things. First up is buttons.

I’m planning on making a few more of these since only a couple match. These are fairly small.

I started out making the two buttons on the right. I realized the frit would look better on the bottom of the buttons, that’s when I notice I got a round blob when I melted off the glass rod. They kind of look like a kaleidoscope.

Just a couple of purple and white dot buttons. I’ll probably make more of these in different colors.

Now, a few beads…

More birds. I like making these. They are really fun.

Bunnies!! Two white ones and two pinkish blush ones. I was getting tired of making all white ones.

A set of round beads that have glass shards applied to an opal yellow bead.

Sara Sally LaGrand’s Class

I finally took Sara Sally’s class. It was a blast!! She’s so much fun and a great teacher. Everyone had fun in her class and we all finished at least one piece, if not two or three. Here’s the brooch I made in her class.

Two different views. I wasn’t going to make mine this big but it’s hard not to keep adding components. This was a totally awesome class!!

Copper Box Beads

I finally got them done!! I still want to make more. They are addicting. I was to try adding other design elements to them. I’m still designing the necklace these beads will go into. Hopefully it won’t take me forever to get it done.

The fronts and backs have different etched or embossed designs on them. I’ve lined the beads up so all the holes are horizontal in the picture.

Quilt Show Bound

My cousin’s quilt club has a quilt show in the spring. My cousin showed some of my beads and buttons to the guild members and they want to sell my things at their next show. Here’s the first batch of beads and buttons I made for it.

These have glass shanks on the back.

They want buttons to sell in pairs. I can’t make a pair of anything so I’m not sure how that’s going to work – yet.

More Fishing Lures With Hooks

I dug through the fishing tackle in the garage to find some hooks that I could use. I didn’t find that many silver colored ones and most were too small to use. I cut off the barb and end of the hook and filed it down so it’s not sharp. Using the hooks, I can assemble these without using glue but it’s not that easy. The feathers seem to get all over the place.

Probably won’t be making very many more of these. They take too long to assemble and I’m running out of hooks.

Fishing Lure Charms

I wanted to try to make some “real” fishing lures but I’m still trying to figure out how to attach hooks. In the meantime, these are just decorative.

The top one ended up with a short tail. It was the first one I made and I was trying to figure out the best way to attached the feathers.
