Another Two Bracelets

Yep, two more bracelets.

TurquoiseBracelet BlueBracelet

The top is turquoise and the bottom one is another blue one. Again, I took crappy pictures. I’m going to have to work on that…..

Two More Bracelets

Things seem to be happening in twos. At least when it comes to me making things. Here’s two more bracelets I just finished up.

Two Blue Bracelets

I got these done this weekend…..

BlueBracelets

I know the back side of the white paper has printing on it but I was too lazy to take another picture or edit it out. I know I should spend more time on my photos but then that would take away time from making things. It’s either priorities or laziness….

Safety Pin Pin

I guess these are pretty popular in the crafting community. I found a bunch of designs already charted out. A gal I work with wanted a Swiss flag pin. So, I quickly put this together.

SwissFlagI probably could have used a little larger pin for all the hanging pins. Might do that if I make more in different designs.

Fiber and Textile Ideas

I’m trying to come up with some new ideas for wearable art. I tried the nuno felting and that wasn’t really my cup of tea. I love the look so I decided to explore making smaller things with felt. I first purchase some wool felt and dyed it using regular food coloring and vinegar. It’s just like using acid dyes but without the chemicals and the food coloring is permanent after steaming the felt. Here’s a the piece I did first to try out the technique:

WoolFelt-FoodColoring

I really didn’t want the whole thing green but I made a mistake by mixing the food coloring up too much. It still turned out a nice vibrant green.

FirstLeaf-MoreColorAdded

I made this pin out of the felt. I added more color with fabric felt pens and a piece of ribbon was cut to add an accent to the piece. I haven’t sewed in forever and my mom’s sewing machine is one of those electronic ones. I had no idea what I was doing even though my mom saying it’s so easy.

FirstLeafBack

This is the back. I used a piece of fabric on the back as I had threads all over the place, it was really ugly. Then I sewed the pin back on.

My experiments with dyeing felt is in the works. I did these two pieces last night:

DyedFelt-2ndTry-Back

I really like the way the piece on the left turned out. The pink one on the right turned out too much the same pink. I later found out that red/pinks need less vinegar. And when I took it out, I wasn’t careful about the way I squeezed the water out so the dye got all over the piece. Still, it’s a nice pink with purple accents and I can still use it for something.

Two More Ladder Bracelets

Here’s the last two ladder bracelets I made. These will be the last I make before the craft show. They have been a hit this season.

Three More Ladder Bracelets

I did well and sold all the ladder bracelets I had previously made. I wanted more to sell at the next craft show so I’m making more of them. Good thing I have a stock of buttons already made up.

Hopefully I’ll be able to make a few more up before the show.

Something Different

Well, kind of. I’ve been making those goth girl beads and decided to try it in a pendant. Here’s the results:

It still need to be string on a chain or something so it can be worn. I haven’t figured out what I want to string it on yet. Probably something simple, like a black leather necklace so it doesn’t take away from the pendant part.

Two More Ornaments

I tried a few more ornaments last night. The first one I made turned out great. The color was nice and dense and the frit showed up nicely. But when I went to stick it in my kiln, I found my mandrel was too long and wouldn’t fit. In my attempt to try to save it, I dropped the whole thing on the concrete floor. While disappointed, it did give me a chance to inspect the wall thickness a bit closer. I’m always afraid that I will make them too thin. After that, I made these two. They ended up smaller than the first one and the frit colors don’t show up as much but I’m happy with them.

I used some kind of transparent frit applied to the outside. The colors don’t show up but I do like the texture. This happens because frit is a different COE than the base glass I’m using.

This one turned out kind of cool. It’s on the smaller side. The colors really glimmer when held up to the light. Wonder what it would look like on a real Christmas tree.

More Big Hole Beads

I got these beads cored with sterling silver tubing yesterday.

They all use different base colors and all of them I used different colors of frit on. Some have a floral look to them. I think I have enough to sell at the next craft show now.
